The Supply Chain Revolution by Art Koch | Book Review”

In this book Art Koch depicts his way of wisdom and experience of SCM (supply chain management) through the maze of supply chain demand, logistics, inventory and much more. He is of the opinion that if people and leaders behind SCM are not developed and properly trained and educated with the rudimentary aspects, it’s unlikely for them to succeed at operational and financial levels.

The author is of the opinion that most of the businesses across the worldwide focus on inventory than the entire cycle of SCM, which often results in failure of operations and financial instability. This book illustrates how the qualitative optimization of SCM should be crafted and executed for business sustainability and profit. Art introduces new, time-tested, and better ways of SCM. The book explains many phases of SCM through real-life cases and references.

Professionals involved in SCM will shockingly find that inventory optimization can only take them ahead for some time; however, it is not the ultimate secret of business excellence. This book explains how to use resourceful models and practical solutions step by step, starting from simple deterministic ones to complex multi-echelon optimization.

Inventory managers, demand planners, supply planners, and academicians interested in gaining proper knowledge on SCM will benefit from the book.

Though the book is slightly technical, in fact laymen will also be able to understand the following aspects pertaining to SCM after reading this book.

  • What are operations in supply chain management and why it is important?
  • What are the key functions within this field, and how do they interact with one another and the broader business?
  • What are the responsibilities and decisions that managers in each functional area think about?
  • How will disruptions in the Supply Chain impact the business world and our lives?

Such books are covered in MBA courses worldwide. However, professionals can elevate their SCM skills and streamline their supply chain system with expert strategies. At the end of the day, they will be able to learn how to increase supply chain efficiency. The book easily covers core topics, concepts explained clearly with exciting real-world examples and practical resources.

Overall, the book offers a practical understanding of the dynamic, expanding, and ever-evolving Supply Chain Management that is crucial for any business’s profitability, sustainability, and operations.
